What is slice the pie

Slicethepie turns every music fan into a record label. Earn money by scouting for new talent, support your favourite artists by voting in the Showcases and finance artists you think will be successful. Trade in and out of artists to build your own portfolio and make money in the process.

So how can I do it?

Once you have registered you start earning by listening to tracks and writing a review.  Once you click on one of the scout rooms your music player will start playing you a track., but you won't see who the artist is until you have left your review.  You need to listen to at leas 60 seconds of the track, then rate it out of ten. Once you have written your review the artist’s details will be revealed. You can also add the track to your watch list and tip the artist(s), but more on this later.

How does it work

Slice the pie pays you for each review that you write, and as you progress you earn more stars; with more stars the amount that you earn per track that you review will increase.

You will start as a one star scout and as your slice the pie time goes on you will move up; eventually to five stars.

The current payment for scouts is;

1 STAR = £0.03 per track

2 STARS = £0.05 per track

3 STARS = £0.07 per track

4 STARS = £0.09 per track

5 STARS = £0.12 per track

One and two star scouts are paid in vouchers, which you can reinvest in artists you like, or believe have potential. Three, four and five star Scouts earn cash.

To go up in stars there are a number of factors to take into account, including;

  • The amount of reviews you do
  • Your accuracy
  • How detailed your reviews are

Earn money from listening to music; surely not!

Yes, it’s true

With Slicethepie (Slice the pie) you actually get paid for listening to music and posting your reviews.  And it works!

What should I write in my review?

Your review should be how the song comes across to you; the best way I have found is to open a word pad or word document and write what you think whilst listening.

It will be your thoughts and feeling that you write about, The more detailed you are about the track the quicker you will go up in stars.

How long do they need to be?

You should always try to write at least 3. Try not to be influenced by your personal taste but do try and be personal if you can:  Try to find something positive to say even if you don’t like the track.

What is my accuracy?

Your accuracy is how good you are at rating tracks and comes from how you rate the tracks you listen to out of 10 compared to the rest of the scouts. If you rate a track a 2 and the majority of scouts rate a track 7 then your accuracy will not be very good. However if you rate the track 6 and the rest of the scouts rate it 6 your accuracy will increase.

What are tips and how do I use them?

Tips are what are given to you as you review a certain number of tracks and you can use your tips to back bands or solo artists that you like. If you like an artist you can add these to your watch list. You can use your tip for any artist.

When a scout room comes to an end the artists with the most tips go through to the show case and a chance to be financed.

How do I take my money out?

When you start reviewing your money will slowly build depending on how many reviews you do.  Amounts you earn per track vary with your star rating (see above). You can withdraw your money once you have made £5.00.
